I started eating breakfast about a year ago because of all the supposed health benefits I'd read about, but the only effect the extra meal had on me was weight gain. I only had a piece of fruit or some small bit of carbs, but I discovered that once I ate I was hungry all morning until lunch, when I'd overeat.
I was never hungry in the morning before, but I forced myself to eat breakfast because of all the hype... now I'm quitting again. Unless I prime the pump with breakfast I don't really think about food at all until lunch time, when I eat a reasonable portion. I haven't eaten breakfast for several weeks now, and I feel much better for it and I'm losing weight.

Try having a source of protein for breakfast instead of carbs.. an egg or two, for example. You should feel less hungry throughout the morning and possibly even lunch too.
Carbs alone for breakfast are a bad idea because the energy they provide wears off far quicker than protein leaving you hungrier for lunch. Yogurt that's not loaded with sugars and cottage cheese are other good breakfast options.
I agree with Mark. Carbs alone for any meal are a bad idea. I usually have cottage cheese, but any protein with some fat will do.
Consider what's traditionally known as a "farmer's breakfast": a couple (or three) eggs, bacon or sausage, and some sort of potato (hashbrowns, etc.) This is, of course, far too many calories for today's lifestyles as a daily breakfast but it does illustrate what's always been used as sources of long-lasting energy; protein and fat, and what it takes to get the whole process going. The potatoes, being carbs, are great at getting the fire going.. and then the eggs and bacon/sausage provide the kind of fuel that keeps the fire going steady.
For most Americans these days, though, a breakfast like that would probably provide enough energy for the whole day, not just the morning.
Mark: Exactly. Maybe I'll try eating some beef jerky for breakfast.
