I know that Germans love David Hasselhoff, but only slightly less well-known is this: St. Louisans love the Beach Boys. Really love them. I've never heard more Beach Boys than I've heard standing in elevators and lobbies in St. Louis. Every restaurant, every store, every parking garage: the Beach Boys.

In 1964, when the Beach Boys were at the top of the charts, my St. Louis based rock band, the Chevels, played as much Beach Boy stuff as we could learn. They were huge.
Did you know the Beach Boys are from Hawthorne?

I saw the Beach Boys in concert at the V. P. Fair (Now Fair St. Louis or some such) a few years back. They had the guest drummer John Stamos (the actor). It was my first "rock" concert.
