www.wawadigital.com Is a Scam

Categories:

So now along with www.oneclickdigital.com is a scam, I have determined that WAWADigital is a scam as well. I had agreed to buy a new camera at a certain price, and when he called to confirm the order it turned out that he wanted to sell me a refurbished camera. He then offered to sell me a new camera at a much higher price, and when I was I wasn't interested he said he was cancelling my order and he hung up. I've called my credit card company to alert them.

I've never had this many problems buying online in the past.

Dude, just buy from B&H or Amazon, or a brick-and-mortar store! (Costco has some good deals). Sometimes saving $30 online just isn't worth the risk and inconvenience. It's also not hard to buy a quality used camera - KEH is very reliable (they test every used item they get, they ship immediately, and they have a no-questions-asked 14-day return policy), and eBay can have good deals as well, if you're careful (that is, if you buy from someone who has tons of positive feedback, like I have done a few times never with any problems). And what's so bad about getting a refurbished camera?

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with these creeps. Do a little research, and be very skeptical:

Especially online.

There are really only two places I consider when it comes to online purchasing of technology stuff: TigerDirect and Newegg.

At work, we buy a lot of stuff through TigerDirect.. and personally, I use Newegg quite a bit.

I'm thinking that we are seeing more scammers lately because the barrier for entry has gotten lower. It is too easy to set up a store on yahoo and get listed in froogle, so are are finding the scammers quicker.

I still use froogle, but I don't bother with anyone that has a rating lower than 4.5 stars. I won't buy from a store that I don't recognize that is unrated. I think that if you lodged a complaint with the FTC and the attorney general for the state they are operating in, though, you might get something for your frustration. This is classic bait and switch, and highly illegal. The FTC has an online form here:

I agree that WAWAdigital.com is a total scam. Same experience as Michael Williams, above. Pushy (but knowledgeable!) sales person was extremely rude. I had the feeling they WANTED me to cancel. Phishing? Beware!

Wish I'd seen this before experiencing the same as Micheal Williams. Wawadigital pulled the same on me. No where on their site does it say refurbished then they call to upsell you on way overpriced accessories for the digital cameras. When I said no, he cancelled the order. Go check resellerratings.com for better options. I went to Onecall.com and got very good service.

This site is a rip-off. After you place your order, they call you and ask you if you want to buy some overpriced accessories. If you decline, they yell at you and cancel your order, or tell you that you will be getting a refurbished camera instead of a new one, even though their web-site says nothing about this. Then they charge you a 20% cancelation fee if they decide to cancel it, even though you never got a camera or anything. This company probably doesn't have any merchandise and is a total scam. Now they have my credit card #, which they could be giving to anyone right now. I would not reccomend using this company.

In addition to agreeing with everyone's comments regarding this company, my biggest mistake was not cancelling my credit card immediately. To date they have taken me for over $2,000. Identity theft is the only thing the "sell". I hope someone enjoyed the plane ticket in Dubai that they purchased with my card!
