Next time my wife gets mad for me not listening to her, I'll have a defense: hearing is hard. I would have guessed that vision was more complicated that hearing, but after reading about both I think that ears might actually be cooler than eyes.

On the topic, there was also something I saw about the difficulty men have in hearing the high pitch sounds, which could go a long way to explain why you don't listen. Well other than the "you don't care" or "You're an a-hole" explinations.
