He could wait for federal law enforcement agencies to work their way from the nation's illegal immigration hot spots to Idaho, but that could take decades.Instead, Vasquez is considering a move that could transform the battle against illegal immigration from an expensive government endeavor to a gold mine for lawyers: He may sue the local businesses that hire illegal immigrants, using a federal law that was created to fight the Mafia.
"Their presence lowers the labor wage for American citizens and removes employment opportunities," Vasquez said. "Certainly it uses tax dollars to provide them with educational services, medical care, unemployment compensation for those that are injured on the job. They are a drain on the taxpayers of Canyon County, the state of Idaho and the U.S. in general."
What a great strategy! The best way to obliterate anything you don't like is to find a way for lawyers to profit from destroying it. I'd prefer for our elected officials to do their jobs, but since that's apparently impossible I'm interested to see how this turns out.

This is a bad idea. Using RICO statutes to sue abortion protesters and immigration law violaters is a bastardization of the law in the same vein as Kelo bastardized the fifth ammendment.
Unintended consequences and all... perhaps bloggers could someday be open to RICO prosecution if they violate McCain/Feingold.
