AFP is reporting that upwards of 800,000 Lebanese have gathered to protest against Syrian occupation. That's mind-boggling considering that Lebanon has a population of under 4 million people. Here's a picture of the demonstration:

Yeah, I think President George W. Bush deserves some credit for this, don't you? Not to mention the brave people of Iraq and Ukraine.
It's not at all clear that this wouldn't have happened absent what we did in Iraq.
It's hard to argue that Bush doesn't deserve any credit for this. The times they are a changin' in the Middle East.
Mark: Yeah, it's pure coincidence that Qaddafi gave up his nuke program, Ukraine resisted Russia, Lebanon is resiting Syria, Saudi Arabia and Egypt are allowing local elections (with women voters!) and so forth and so on. Those things are completely unrelated to our invasion of Iraq and the subsequent election there.
MW: I didn't say they weren't related... I'm saying it's not clear that what happened in Lebanon wouldn't have happened if what we did in Iraq didn't occur.

Just wanted to thankyou for allowing me to become embroiled in the Shia Sunni debate over the past few weeks; it was really Cathartic, especially for a complete internet novice like myself.
It's a pity that the Syrian troops have to leave Lebanon. They had a real thing going with Hezbollah, keeping those Nuclear arsenists Isreal off Arab land.
