A lot could be done to ease traffic on some of the busiest streets and freeways in Los Angeles if someone would build a bridge connecting Vista Del Mar / Pershing Drive and Pacific Avenue. Such a bridge would neatly close up Route 1 -- the Pacific Coast Highway -- and reduce pressure on Lincoln Boulevard (where the 1 detours around the Marina), Sepulveda Boulevard, and the 405, presently the only three North-South corridors past LAX.

Let's keep the Pershing Drive route a little more secret. If it gets as busy as Sepulveda my commute will double. So, shhhhhhh.

So how would you shift the 1 from Sepulveda to Vista Del Mar/Pershing Dr.? Then you'd also have to widen Pacific, or make it 24 hopur no parking on the streets. Its alread pretty neat, aside from the parts it is a distance from the coast.

The bridge would be cool, but it wouldn't make sense to rename it the 1, with out really changing miles of the route and widening some streets.
