The Spork posts a puzzle sent from BTK to the media.

VICTIM, FOLLOW, PJ, USD 259, WICHITA, MO, OAS, OR, DNA, KIA, SOS, DOB, ER, RR, PR, PX, PEO, GAO, CIO, CO, AWOL, INS, MIT, TIM, SOX, BOA, CIG, VISE , SET, POD, ODD, RON, CRUISE, SEX, SOW, PROWL, SLIT, LIT, RUM, FIR, OAK, NEE, BEE, BEES, SEE, ORCS, ANN, NOG, ROE, ZEN, GAR, RAG, SIM, SPOT, POT, DETAILS, GO FOR IT, FANTASIES, BUILDS, STEAM, TEAM, TELEPHONE CO, LARRY, IAN, ANDERSON, STRONG, SCHOOL, LOO, POET, HIT, NEW, 316, 8M, PET, LOST PET, HELP, FOR SALE, POE, RUSE, REALTORS, INSURANCE, SERVICEMAN, VICE, HANDYMAN, REMODEL, MODEL, DOME, MODE, MOD, LED, REAL, AX (twice), WRONG, ADDRESS, ADD, DAM, FAKE ID, VEND, RAN, SEA, POD, RIB, WIT, HAT, FOP, PLAN, SIX, FIB, PIG, LEO, DAUB, HELM, PIN (twice), NIP, DIN (twice), PAR, RAP, SAT, LEE, CAD, 'NAM, MAN, AMY, EAR, WEND, RAE, MAY, YAM, ADT...

Here's a PDF of the original "Chapter 8" puzzle. The Spork also adds some interpretation from her own expertise. For myself, I can add the following.

"USD 259" == $259 (USD is "US dollars")
"MO" ?= Missouri
"OAS" ?= Oklahoma Archeological Survey
"DOB" == Date of Birth
"PX" == Post exchange, possibly Leeker's grocery store at 61st North and Broadway, which has a post office.
"GAO" ?= Government Accounting Office
"AWOL" == Away Without Leave
"BOA" ?= Bank of America
"CIG" ?= Community involvement group
"ORCS" ?= the monsters? originally from Tolkien
"316" == Wichita area code
"8M" ?= something to do with football state champions
"VEND" ?= vending machines
"DAUB" and "HELM" ?= people by those names died in Wichita in 1978
"VICE" and "VISE" ?= both spellings, but not next to each other

I bet most of this is gibberish, with a few clues tossed in here and there. Interesting, nonetheless.

OAS = Organization of American States

"USD 259" stands for "Unified School District 259." 259 is the school district for the Wichita area.

8m could be for 8mm / snuff films.

259 is also the last 3 digits of a Wichita area zip code. 204 also found in the "puzzle" is a Wichita area telephone prefix so (316) 204-3268 could be a telephone number of significance.

Hi...
Upon reading the BTK puzzle, I have made an observation.
There is a " FOR SALE " followed by the words VENDU ( in french sold ). and it is marked with a dot, also.
It is something that we see , here in Québec, everywhere when a house is on sale...the big red sticker " VENDU " crossing the For Sale.
I wondered if this person could have taken trips here north.. ? and is there other words in french there ?..marked with a dot, also ?

Thank you for reading me...

John: Ah, good calls. Maybe "USD" was wrong after all!

DSP: Nice job noticing that. I don't know eough French to tell more, but I know someone who does....

I am from Wichita. 67259 zip code does not exist in the Wichita area. Jessica is correct that USD 259 is the school district. Larry Anderson once worked as a real estate agent in Wichita.

Did anyone notice that his number street address is on there? His number on his house was 6220, whish is right by the last name of Rader. I find the whole thing very interesteing, I would love to know if there is a copy of the puzzle with all of the clues circled available?

Maybe this has been noted elsewhere already, but the puzzle has three parts. The first part begins with "MO," which stands for "modus operandi" or "method of operation." In this one he describes how he would plan his crimes and find his victims. The second part begins with "ID" ("Identity"), and this where he gives his name, address, etc. (Does anyone know if his telephone number is in there?) The third part begins with "RUSE." This is where he lists some of the ruses he used to get into people's homes.

From Wichita!

The name Fox is in the puzzle, upper rt corner. Don't know if anyone has reported that.

Also USD 259 does refer to the school district. Park City is included the the Wichita School district. All of their children, not in private schools attend the Wichita Schools.
