For anyone interested in oil, here's an OSHA document describing petroleum refining processes. It includes a nice overview of the industry, the basics about crude oil, a little bit of chemistry, and lots about the various products we get from petroleum. Not a difficult read.

That pretty well describes the refineries I work in from time to time... "Course, all I do is make sure the electrical stuff makes the proper noises at the proper times...
I develop software for refining and chemical industries (environmental/safety compliance management systems). I'm going to have to keep this handy, looks like an excellent intro to the refining process for new interns, etc.
