I was just driving home down the 405 in torrential rain and I came up behind an SUV with no lights, swerving across lanes. Figuring this to be a pretty dangerous situation, I decided to call 911... and I got a busy signal. So I tried again. Busy. Tried again. "You have reached 911. All our operators are busy. Please be prepared to explain the nature of your emergency..." and I hung up.

This is why I own a gun.

never ceases to amaze me that people WON'T slow down when it's pouring.

I guess that's why all my transplant patients are getting their donor organs this week.

Oh, goodness. Guns are excellent for handling annoying drivier situations in torrential rains. Good thinking!

Its probably a little more of an issue than just not slowing down when it rains. I've done the 2 am drive on the 405 before, swore of being on the roads between 1 & 3 am cause of all the drunks.

As far as 911, no suprise how busy it is cause people call for the stupidest reasons when the should call the non-emergency line or not at all.
The stories my parent's neighbor had about the calls she got baffled the mind.

DG: Is that true? Are organs more available around this time of year for some reason?

DD: I just mean the inadequacies of 911 in general.

tP: I think being drunk is more of a problem than not slowing down, though I was driving 50 - 60 most of the time last night due to the heavy rain and flooding.

I was refering to your freeway buddy with no lights and swerving, he/she's inconistant driving was probably more of a function of alcohol than the rain. The rain just makes it easier to slide the car around.
