I feel the same way. I read it earlier and just couldn't believe that I'd been mispronouncing it in my head for so long.
I've always assumed it was lie-lecks. Given the lack of a double-l, it never even occurred to me that anyone might pronounce it "lillecks."
I had been wondering about that for the longest time. I had it right through pure luck.
