More on the FEC complaint against John and Ken.
In a complaint to the Federal Elections Commission, the National Republican Campaign Committee accused radio station KFI-AM (640) co-hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou of "criminal behavior" for attacking Rep. David Dreier, R-Glendora, and endorsing his Democratic opponent, Cynthia Matthews. How utterly ludicrous... the idea that anyone in American can face criminal prosecution for advocating the defeat of an elected official! Disgusting. Totally repulsive. Why not contact the NRCC and tell them what you think?By criticizing Dreier's positions on immigration, promoting a "Fire Dreier" campaign and making on-air appeals for voters to elect Matthews, the NRCC said, the hosts gave Matthews an unlawful corporate, in-kind contribution of more than $25,000.
"This behavior is illegal and must be appropriately punished," the NRCC charged, noting violation of the law carries a penalty of fines and jail time.

I think it's abhorrent that there are barriers on political speech -- why should "media" get a pass, but other orgs don't? What about freedom of association? Free speech?
I think anybody should be allowed to make any political argument they want, and explicitly endorse candidates. Shame on all 3 branches of the federal govt for adding restrictions to speech.
Well, you know what they say...
Free speech isn't.
I don't want the government limiting my TV, newspaper, radio, movie, or Internet options.
I think the proverbial feces will hit the fan when the FCC tries to impose its "decency rules" onto subscriber-based cable channels... like HBO and Showtime.
At the time these laws were passed there were some who pointed out this would increase the power of newspapers...they could not be prevented from making payments(in-kind) to political campains because of the first amendment..
Personally I'm all for them going to a jury which will be required to enforce the law??? do you think the jury will convict?? or would the gov avoid a jury trial for judge justice...Dont know the exact law but you dont get a jury trial in NJ unless the offence exceeds a time in jail(one year?)
