I came across this the other night while I was reading my Bible before bed:

Ecclesiastes 10:2

The heart of the wise inclines to the right,
but the heart of the fool to the left.

Heh.

I know that your comment on this was a slightly amused "heh"... but you don't actually believe this, do you?

Mark: Sure, but only based on the coincidence that my politics happen to be described as "the right" in modern circles. Were the terms reversed I still think it would be amusing, though.

That is pricesless.

I can see it now...

"The Right is right! The Bible says so!!"

.. to the perpetual eye-rolling of everyone who doesn't live in the Bible Belt.

Lighten up Mark, it was just a joke. :-)

Joel Thomas said:

"Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil."

Proverbs 4:27

JT: Ooo, that's another good one.

I did a quick lookup for the definition of the original word used in "right". Here it is:

3545 [3225] NyImÎy, yaœmiyn, n.f. [root of: 1228, 1229, 2124?, 3546, 3547, 3548, 3554, 3556, 9402, 9405]. (direction) right; south, southward (south is right when facing east, the direction of orientation in the ancient Near East); the right is considered culturally to be stronger and of greater prestige than the left; to be seated on the right side of a ruler is a greater position than on the left side

DP: I guess I had it all wrong :)
