In case you missed it on Drudge, Conan will take over The Tonight Show in 2009 (link perishable). Conan is one of the funniest people I know of, and I only wish he could move into the new slot sooner rather than later. This looks like a smart move for NBC, considering Conan's popularity with the existing under-30 demographic -- which will be under-35 in 2009, and an even bigger chunk of the key 18-49 cohort.

Yay! This translates directly into one more hour of sleep per weeknight.
Or you could get a TiVo!
Somebody is assuming that anyone will know or care who Conan Obrien is five years from now...
I suspect the work of a talented publicist, and a gullible drudge.
NBC has lost their collective minds. Conan is not funny - period. I fear for mankind if the young people coming up think he is a comedian. We were taught that someone stupid was not funny but to be pitied. In reality, Conan is probably a brilliant person, it just doesn't come through as terribly funny!
David: Dude. C'mon. Conan is the most hilarious person on TV.
Yea David where have you been? The "Cone Zone" is much funnier than all the other late shows on either network. If Conan was on before Leno/Letterman... no oldies would stay up that late for them - their ratings would drop if in competition (except maybe those who have a DVR) Frankly, the others are lame in comparison. I can't wait till 2009.
Yay, I'm the first one in 2006 to comment! Anyways, Connan still has a following...
