Having won the prize of a guest post yet still lacking a good blogging voice, I am simply going to go through the issues, hopefully checking off everything that's been on my mind lately.
Sexism. Women aren't being forced to work at Wal-mart or submit to their husbands. Until men start physically harming women (which would be the only clearly immoral thing), sexism is just an excuse for not making a good case for your sex. What would happen if all the women stopped working at Wal-mart? That would be something like half their work force eliminated huh? Or women could stop shopping there, right? Could Wal-mart exist without women? And women could deny men sex and companionship, starve them into being nice and respectful. Kind of socialistic thinking, unionizing and boycotting, but actually kind of libertarian, because, hey, people should be able to do what they want, like form unions and boycott and deny sex.
That's the problem with many Right Wingies. They mistakenly think that minimal government is the natural order, when actually, government and communal arrangements sprang up on their own, all around the world independently. Like pyramids.
Racism. Similar to sexism. See Bill Cosby.
Gayness. Or homosexuality, rather (probably more PC huh). Anyways, the people of Massachusetts (where I reside), by saying okay to gay marriage, have shown that they can grasp the concept of mind-your-own-business. I understand that there are some religious objections to it, but if everyone made it their mission to impose and defend their own religions in the governing of our country, we'd all get killed in the ensuing holy wars.
Combinatorics. It may be "just counting", but it's so hot --- counting the same set in an eighth the time as the next guy is one of the best things a person can do for himself.
The other Williams, version Wimbledon. I really wanted Serena to win. And I'm frustrated that girls like Sharapova who've lived in Florida since they were five say they're representing Russia.
And last, but certainly not least, the Sox. This is the Year. That is all.
