It's unfathomable to me how our federal government -- and both parties! -- continually enable illegal immigration from Mexico into the US. Why does President Bush care what Mexican President Vincente Fox thinks? Who knows. Nevertheless, "Bush eyes easing entry from Mexico".
The Bush administration plans to pull the plug on a new border-security program requiring millions of visa-carrying Mexican nationals to be fingerprinted and photographed before being allowed to enter the United States, according to congressional and Bush administration sources. ...Yeah well, Canadians don't come and stay forever living off the public dole.Mr. Fox has objected that Mexican nationals were being fingerprinted and photographed while Canadian citizens were not.
Either Department of Homeland Security Undersecretary Asa Hutchinson or the Washington Times has some important facts wrong:
In his advance text, Mr. Hutchinson, who heads border and transportation security for the Department of Homeland Security, said more than 104 million Mexican nationals hold laser visas, but they would not be required to be photographed or fingerprinted as outlined in a border-security program known as US-VISIT if they traveled less than 25 miles from the border and stayed no longer than three days. But the population of Mexico is only 105 million. Whatever. The point is that America needs to protect our borders in the way that's best for us, not for outsiders, of any nationality.

104 vs. 105 - maybe all Mexicans want to come and visit the U.S.
