I'm trying to get a new cell phone -- discounted through AT&T Wireless, which owes me some favors -- and from the specs I really like the Sony Ericsson T616. Most of the reviews I've found are positive, but I haven't been able to find anything written by what I'd consider a reputable source. So, does anyone have any information or first-hand experience with this phone? Does anyone know of a good cell phone review site I may not have found easily through Google (none of which seemed very comprehensive)?

I assume you've tried cnet. But if not, the T616 review is at "http://reviews.cnet.com/4505-6454_7-20912537.html?tag=search"

Yeah I saw that one, but it didn't seem that useful to me because it didn't mention the supposedly poor reception of the phone, or the quality of its display. Thanks though.

Michael Williams mentions poor reception.

These new phones with cameras and countless other gadgets are, for me, useless. It seems the phone manufacturers build in all this stuff at the expense of:

1) good reception
2) ease of use
3) durability
4) weather- and sweat-proofing

My cel service is provided by my employer, but if I had to get my own I'd get AT&T and a basic Nokia phone. Of all the phones I have had over the years, they seem to be the most durable, and the best-behaved of the lot. And they do not load them down with gidgey-gadgety tinkertoys I never use.

(Then again, I am so old-fashioned that I like landline phones with real bells in them).
