RAW over at RAW360 posts some personality tests (which can be found here), and I simply can't resist.

Surface personality
Underlying self

Well, what can I say? These things are kinda like astrology -- everyone sees some truth in whatever results the test spits out. It's interesting, anyway, and close to how I see myself.

I took this too, and both results came out 8w9. I felt some strange pride that they matched, but I'm not sure if it means anything.

Of course the result is going to be close to however you see yourself- the outcome is dependent only upon the answers that one gives to questions regarding oneself. The only input available to the personality test algorithm is the test-taker's own self-perception, as revealed by his answers to the questions.

It might as well ask you "given these descriptions, do you see yourself as a 1w9 type, a 2w9 type, a 3w9 type, ...?" etc. Nonsense.

Well, I don't think it's as nonsensical as that, since the questions didn't relate directly to these personality traits.

My only point is that, if I honestly think of myself as (for example) a generous, confident, gregarious, highly rational person, then I will answer the questions in a way that is consistent with that view. Even if I am fundamentally deluded as to the quality of my own character.

Right, but then you get different "surface" and "real" personalities, in theory I suppose.
