If anyone is interested, here are some satellite photos of the California wildfires. All links go to photos with resolutions of 1 kilometer per pixel, but from those pages there are links to photos of 4x and 16x the resolution. (The 250m/pixel pictures are spectacular!) The fires and smoke are clearly visible; very neat.

Note all the smoke pouring west into Los Angeles proper, ugh.

Update:
Now Drudge has up satellite photos too! Copycat.

Cool Pictures (though I guess "cool isn't quite the right word.

Michael, if you are so gung-ho about the war, why don't you put your PHD on the back burner and go to the Middle East and kill some infidels? Or is war only alright if you don't have to get your hands dirty or bloody?

I don't see what this has to do with the fires in California, but, frankly, I think I'm more use here in the states than I would be on the front lines. I'm doing my part, trust me.

Wow, the photos are amazing. It says how big the fires are, that you can see them and the smoke from space!

The satellite imagery showing the details of the topography of the land is geographically captivating, to say the least. I'm amazed the area covered by the smoke from those fires. I would love to get that picture blown up into poster size for the entire state and put on a wall. Keep posting more satellite pics on the net!
