One problem I had with Sensing's post was his implicit assumption that we must be slaves to our evolutionary heritage. Marriage may provide me with a mechanism to help ensure that my genetic material gets passed on; but I have no conscious desire for that to happen. Evolutionary biologists may say that "Avoidance of genetic extinction is...the defining motive of human and animal behavior," but that's *their* axiom. My axiom says no such thing.
At least, I inferred that he held this belief. He didn't contradict it, certainly, and many of his arguments seem to stem from it.
